RESTORE Act Ad Hoc Committee (2013)

The Resources and Ecosystem Sustainability, Tourism, Opportunities Revived Economies of the Gulf Coast States Act of 2012 (RESTORE Act) dedicates 80 percent of all administrative and civil penalties related to the Deepwater Horizon spill to a Gulf Coast Restoration Trust Fund. The RESTORE Act outlines a structure by which the funds can be utilized to restore and protect the natural resources, ecosystems, fisheries, marine and wildlife habitats, beaches, coastal wetlands, and economy of the Gulf Coast region.

TBRPC Chair Bob Minning formed this Ad Hoc committee to assist the Tampa Bay region’s cities and counties in the process of identifying and submitting projects for funding under the various components of the Federal RESTORE Act. In particular, the Council brings considerable expertise in the identification of the economic impacts of proposed projects.
